Reims’ assistant manager Will Still has announced that the club’s head coach, Óscar García, will not be in the dugout for Saturday’s fixture against Paris Saint-Germain. The Belgian assistant, in a pre-match press conference transcribed by L’Équipe, said that he would be absent for “family reasons.”
“Óscar García is in Barcelona for family reasons and won’t be here this weekend. He has all of our support and all of our love because these aren’t easy moments. We are with him with all our hearts,” he said. García was absent for the same reasons for the match against Lens on 4th September.
Former Brighton and Watford manager García joined Reims at the beginning of the 2021/22 season and last year guided the club to a comfortable 12th place. finish in Ligue 1. He has almost two years remaining on his current deal.
After nine games in Ligue 1, Reims are in the relegation zone with just seven points and are winless in their last four games (two losses, two draws).
