Official | PSG announce Marco Verratti contract extension

In the build-up to the team’s match against Strasbourg tonight for their return to league action, Paris Saint-Germain have announced that midfielder Marco Verratti has renewed his contract with the club for another two years, taking his time at the French capital to 2026.

The 30-year-old has been at the club for over a decade, having won a record eight Ligue 1 titles during that time. Although he has seen many a season blighted by injury, the Italian international has racked up just short of 400 appearances.

Verratti’s previous contract was expiring at the end of next season, with talks for his renewal having reportedly been at an advanced stage just before the World Cup, which he missed out on as Italy fell to defeat in the play-offs.

The Euro 2021-winning midfielder, who has been a regular fixture in the team this season with 14 appearances, will now be hoping to add a ninth title to his tally, as well as finally going all the way in the Champions League.
